I love to leave the subtitles on any day, especially for foreign movies. Also, some actors have a heavy accent and I don't like to rewind every two minutes. So, using the subtitles becomes the only option.

I’m with you on that one 🎬 Subtitles can be a real lifesaver, especially when accents, quiet dialogue, background music, or sound effects are all fighting for space in the mix. As someone who thinks a lot about audio, it’s funny how a movie can have thunderous explosions but then make dialogue feel like it was recorded from across the room. Subtitles keep the story flowing without the constant rewind dance.

For foreign films, I’d say they’re essential unless you speak the language fluently. Even beyond understanding the words, subtitles can help catch little details like song lyrics, background announcements, or whispered lines that might otherwise slip past.

The only time I find them distracting is during visually stunning scenes where I want to soak in the cinematography. But overall? Subtitles on is a solid home-viewing move for me. 🎧
