Motion lights, smart thermostats, robot vacuums, leak sensors, app-controlled plugs — all genuinely useful when they behave. But then the Wi-Fi sneezes, the app logs you out, and suddenly you’re standing in the dark negotiating with a light bulb like it’s a tiny glass hostage.
For DIY projects, though, some tech can be brilliant: smart plugs for awkward sockets, temperature sensors in sheds or greenhouses, security cameras for garden gates, or automatic watering systems for plants that have trust issues.
So here’s the big domestic technology debate: what smart home or DIY gadget has actually made your home/garden life easier, rather than just giving the technology gremlins a new place to live? 🔧
